Educating writers and supporting author careers is what I do best.

Editing, coaching, and website design for writers looking for solutions-based feedback and a collaborative partnership from someone who cares about their writing as much as they do.

I’VE BEEN IN YOUR SHOES…

As a writer myself, I’ve had to put my work in the hands of others, and it hasn’t always been positive.

Sharing your work is a daunting process and negative feedback can have such a devastating impact on your creativity. (Trust me.) So I make sure my feedback is always supportive and actionable to help you reach your writing goals and write your best book.

Isobelle Lans: editor, coach, website designer

NICE TO MEET YOU! I’M ISOBELLE — EDITOR, COACH, WEBSITE DESIGNER, CHAI LATTE ENTHUSIAST, AND FELLOW WRITER.

Writing — and publishing — a novel is a huge feat. It takes commitment to see it through and a huge amount of bravery to share it with the world.

However, writing your novel and getting it to publication standard doesn’t have to be hard.

That’s where I come in!

I work with authors at all stages of the writing journey to refine their manuscripts, prepare for publication, and establish their online presence.

I help my authors gain confidence and refine their writing so they can put their stories out in the world.

No one starts writing their book thinking they won’t finish it.

If your perfectionism, self-doubt, and lack of creative writing knowledge has been holding you back, then you’re in the right place. I help my writers overcome the obstacles that stop them from writing the book of their heart.

NO TWO BOOKS ARE THE SAME, SO MY APPROACH IS ALWAYS TAILORED TO THE INDIVIDUAL FOR MAXIMUM RESULTS.

My goal is to give you the best possible advice and direction for your book and career. Every writer is different, so my editing, coaching and design style is personalised to reflect that. No matter how we work together, I aim to be your mentor and friend to support, encourage, and educate you.

I work with writers of fantasy, crime, historical fiction and romance. Having a broad genre knowledge means I can also help you if your book blends multiple genres (like my own writing does!). From Middle Grade to Adult, I’ve got you.

I am not the right editor for you if you write non-fiction, erotica, or horror (it’s too scary, sorry!).

“Isobelle helped me to feel confident about the things I’d done well, whilst supporting me in improving the areas that needed work.

As a writing novice, I was anxious about handing my work over for inspection, but I needn't have worried. Isobelle’s insights were spot on and I've come away, not only with a stronger story, but with a bunch of skills that will help me going forward. I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with Isobelle and have enjoyed every single moment of the process. Who knew that editing would be one of the best parts of my writing journey? If you work with Isobelle you won't be disappointed, and I hope that she will agree to edit whatever I write next!”

The short introduction:

A life-time passion for the written word and over half a decade’s worth of in-house and freelance editing experience allow me to edit with empathy and expertise to help you take your author career to new heights.

Here’s what you should expect

Empathy

I don’t believe in ruthless edits and harsh critiques. I know what a big deal it is for you to put your creativity in my hands, so I will always treat your work with care and compassion.

Transparency

Our working relationship is built on mutual trust and respect. That is only possible with transparency, so I aim to be open and honest about every step of the process, from contracts to final delivery.

Education

One of the best parts of my job is being able to educate my writers and help them grow. I won’t just help you improve your current work, I’ll make you aware of how you can continue to make it better.

Empowerment

I aim to empower and encourage my writers so they can write with confidence and publish books they’re proud of. I’ll help you grow into the best writer you can be so you can tell your best story.

If this is the kind of support you’re after then I think we’d be a good fit!
